Humility & Possibility, Liberation from the Eternal Return

Time can do wonders for the soul, revealing a beautiful human experience. But, it can also erode what we were born with, humility and possibility. Naked and helpless, we cried for our mothers, knowing only vulnerability. Overtime we cocoon our true selves and attach to a story, which can restrict and limit us. Punish us. Imprison us. How do we accept ourselves without self-importance?

Challenging that distorted image that we have connected to, is only possible with courage and knowledge. Wisdom, in essence, is distinguishing what matters in life from what doesn’t. There is liberation from the eternal return that Nietzche spoke of. Detaching from the weight of life, one can inherit the beauty of the moment, no longer constricted by our egos. But, then what separates us from the concept of meaningless? Contemplation.

How do we consider and, indeed, confront the soul? Witness it with an open heart. Look at it with tender yet, discerning eyes. Be okay with unprincipled failure and childish naivety. Our past discretions, selfishness, and dishonest behavior seize us only because we seize it. So we must let it all go by opening ourselves to the brief and meaningful presence that is our breath.
