Key Lime Essential Oil Benefits

Lime essential oil is refreshing and energizing in both aroma and taste. Due to its high limonene content, Lime provides internal cleansing benefits* known for its ability to uplift, balance, and energize. 

Plant Description

Citrus aurantifolia, also known as the Key lime, is the juicy, aromatic citrus fruit used for this essential oil. Key limes grow on small, shrubby trees that have leaves, thorns, and flowers. The Key lime fruit is typically ripe when the flowers of the tree have blossomed. After the citrus aurantifolia is harvested, the peel is cold pressed to produce a tart, refreshing essential oil.

Chemistry of Lime Oil

Main Chemical Components: Limonene, beta-pinene, y-terpinene

One of the primary constituents of Lime essential oil, beta pinene, is commonly used in perfumery. Additionally, some studies have shown that beta pinene has an effect on the monoaminergic system of the brain, which includes many of the brain’s chemicals and neurotransmitters. These studies have shown that beta pinene may help support balance of brain chemistry, possibly helping reduce sad feelings.* Lime essential oil also includes the chemical constituent limonene, which contributes to Lime’s cleansing ability*, and its stimulating and enhancing effects on mood. The chemical makeup of Lime is what makes the oil so fragrant, uplifting, cleansing, and stimulating.

Sourcing 

Lime essential oil is cold pressed from the rind of the Key lime fruit and is sourced in Brazil. It is a hybrid citrus that can be successfully grown is most areas where there is no winter frost. While all varieties of lime share similar therapeutic properties, Key lime is highly sought after for its strong, robust flavor and zesty fragrance, which is due to its higher acidity compared to other limes.

Ginger Essential Oil Benefits

Ginger oil has warming and stimulating properties, taken internally, Ginger oil can be used to ease occasional nausea and aid in digestion.*

Plant Description

Ginger essential oil is taken from the rhizome, or underground stem, of the ginger plant. A highly aromatic plant, ginger has thick roots, long shoots with leaves, and pale flowers—though the rhizome or root of the ginger plant is most useful for flavoring and other applications. For centuries, the ginger root has been used in cooking practices to add flavor, or dried and powdered as a spice.

Chemistry of Ginger Oil

Main Chemical Components: a-zingiberene, sesquiphellandrene

Ginger oil includes sesquiterpenes called zingiberene and sesquiphellandrene, which contribute to digestive health when used internally* and promote grounding and balancing of emotions when used aromatically.*

Alpha zingiberene, the sesquiterpene that is the primary chemical constituent of ginger essential oil, is what gives ginger its distinct taste. The chemical makeup of Ginger oil contributes to its soothing properties for the body, including its ability to support healthy digestion and to reduce occasional nausea when taken internally.*

Ginger essential oil is distilled from ginger plants that are grown and harvested in Madagascar.

We use Organic MCT Oil in this blend to increase the bioavailability of CBD.

Internally: MCT oils work to increase the benefits of CBD by increasing CBD’s bioavailability and allowing more CBD to reach the bloodstream.
